Gov. Ralph Northam recently announced an additional appointment to his administration. Carrie N. H. Humphrey of Henrico was reappointed to the Advisory Board for the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing. Humphrey is an American Sign Language/English interpreter and educator.


Phi Eta Sigma, an honor society for first-year college and university students in all disciplines, recently inducted Sarah Busch and Renzi Smith of Henrico. Busch, a middle level education major, and Smith, a marine science major, both attend Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina. In order to be inducted, students must have a minimum 3.5 grade point average for the semester and rank in the upper 20 percent of their class.


Juniors Madeline K. Novak and Caroline E. Skoog of Henrico were named to the spring 2019 dean’s list at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.66.


Caroline Lugar of Henrico joined more than 700 other Belmont University students who participated in one of 45 Maymester and Summer Study Abroad programs. Lugar spent time in Belmont's England program for college credit this summer. These short-term programs, lasting anywhere from a week to a month, are led and designed by Belmont faculty to explore one or two certain areas of study, while giving students the opportunity to travel to and discover a new place.
