Milestones

Cadet Staff Sgt. Ryan Jones of Glen Allen received the LTC George R. Swearingen III Military Leadership Scholarship from the University of North Georgia’s Corps of Cadets. Cadets were presented with awards and scholarships for academic achievement, potential for leadership and high moral character. Jones received the scholarship at the annual Boar’s Head Brigade Military Awards Review on March 26. Jones is studying Strategic and Security Studies at UNG.

Nigel Groce-Wright of Henrico recently graduated from Berry College in Rome, Ga. Groce-Wright earned a BS degree in Environmental Science.

Swetha Bengari Golkonda of Henrico recently graduated from University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky. Golkonda earned a master of science in Information Systems Security.

Stephen Baker of Glen Allen was named to the president’s list for the spring 2019 semester at Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C. The president’s list recognizes students who earn a 3.75 or higher grade point average for the semester. Baker is a senior majoring in Sport Management.

The following local students recently graduated from Campbellsville University in Kentucky: Pradeep Nimmakayala and Vijay Teja Mudam, of Glen Allen; and Ravi Putta, Jhansi Varasala, Avinash Nandyala, Mahesh Vattikuti, Shiva Rangu, Lavanya Chitneni, Sushma Kethineni and Kavya Mohan, of Henrico.

Robert Earl Valentine of Henrico graduated May 4 from Newberry College in South Carolina.

Maggie Nuckols of Glen Allen was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2019 semester at Berry College in Rome, Ga. The dean’s list honors students who earn an academic average of 3.5 or better for the semester.

Jessica Ostrowski-Wright of Glen Allen recently was initiated into the all-discipline collegiate honor society Phi Kappa Phi. Ostrowski-Wright was initiated at George Mason University.
