The following area students recently were initiated into Phi Kappa Phi, a collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines, at Virginia Commonwealth University: Haley Adcox, Sherri Egerton, Kirk Eggleston, Caitlin Evans, Etna Green-Carr, Briana James, Brian Jeffries, Jessica Jones, Kathleen Jones, Rosezetta Jones, Meg Kuhlman, Kian Madden, Kelli McFarling, Angela Miranda, Cristina Nataniel-Jones, Madeline Nunnally, Christina Paton, Litta Paulson, Kyle Rodino, Rebecca Ryan, Jonathan Samson, Robert Simonds Jr., Katharine Stromberg and Jifang Zhao, of Henrico; and Deia Champ, Chad Krouse, Sheila List, Ganna Mymokhod, Donna Woodburn and Timothy Woodruff, of Glen Allen. Emily Shull, of Henrico, was initiated into Phi Kappa Phi at Virginia Tech.


The following area students were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2017 semester at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn.: Ryan Casey and Bradley Covington, of Glen Allen; and Elizabeth Ludovico, of Henrico. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for the semester.


Danielle L. Weldon, of Glen Allen, was named to the president’s list for the fall 2017 semester at Chowan University in Murfreesboro, N.C. To qualify for the president’s list, students must earn a grade point average of 3.8 or higher for the semester. Weldon is a junior majoring in history.


Gov. Terry McAuliffe recently announced an additional appointment to his Administration: Clyde Cristman, of Henrico, was reappointed to the Virginia Geographic Information Network Advisory Board. Cristman is director of the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.


Hannah Durrette, of Henrico, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2017 semester at Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C. The dean’s list recognizes students who earn a 3.00 to 3.74 grade point average for the semester. Durrette is a sophomore majoring in Elementary Education.


Peter Van der Wolk, of Henrico, was named to the honors list for the fall 2017 semester at Pomfret School in Connecticut. To be eligible for the honors list, students must earn a minimum 3.330 grade point average for the semester.
