Jeremy S. Curtis of Glen Allen and Caroline E. Skoog of Henrico were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2018 semester at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.66.


Virginia Irby of Henrico earned a dean’s award for academic excellence for the fall 2018 semester at Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y. To earn a dean’s award, students must achieve a semester grade point average of 3.3 or higher. Irby, a graduate of Freeman High School, is majoring in Peace & Conflict Studies.


The following local students were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2018 semester at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.: Cade Elliott, of Glen Allen; and Henry Roberts and Aaron Stein, of Henrico. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.6 or above.


Devlin Montgomery of Henrico was named to the dean’s list for the second quarter of the 2018-19 school year at Randolph-Macon Academy in Front Royal, Va. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a grade point average of 3.3 to 3.99 for the quarter. Montgomery, a sophomore, is the son of Bill and Sharon Montgomery of Henrico.


Precious Waddy of Henrico recently helped coordinate and lead a variety of events to celebrate diversity for the campus community at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Va. During February, EMU hosted a Town Hall on race, screened the documentary “The Hate U Give” with a talkback, and kicked off a new monthly event called The Black Box – a showcase of student art and performances hosted in the Campus Center’s Black Box Theater. A special worship service concluded the Black History Month events at which Waddy, among others, gave a litany. Waddy is a graduate of Henrico High School.


Gov. Ralph Northam recently appointed James R. Barrett of Henrico to the Joint Leadership Council of Veterans Service Organizations. Barrett is retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation.
