Ally Dods and Mackenzie Meadows of Henrico will take part in James Madison University’s production of Green Day’s American Idiot Feb. 19-24. They will join Broadway actress and guest director Nancy Anderson and a cast of 34 theatre, music and musical theatre students in producing this two-time Tony Award-winning musical. With a book by Michael Mayer and Billie Joe Armstrong (the lead singer, songwriter and guitarist for the rock band Green Day), the show is like an elongated music video with fewer scenes and lines and more imagery and movement. The musical tackles the issues of politics and addiction in the post-9/11 Bush administration. Dods is majoring in musical theatre. Meadows is majoring in musical theatre with a minor in dance.
