Micah L. Cohen of Henrico was awarded a gold star for his academic achievement during the fall 2018 semester at The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. Gold stars are awarded to cadets and students who earn a 3.7 or greater grade point average. Gold star recipients also are placed on The Citadel’s dean’s list, which recognizes students with a semester GPA above 3.20.

Emma V. Taylor of Henrico, daughter of Allen and Jana Taylor, was named to the dean's list at Virginia Tech for the fall semester of 2018. To qualify for the dean's list, a student must earn a semester grade point average of 3.4 or better. Taylor is a freshman studying Animal Science.

The following local students graduated with honors Dec. 15 from James Madison University: Brayton Lynn Spicer, Christopher Michael Hughes and Libby Rose Baughan, of Glen Allen; and Grace Marie Cuevas and William Bryce D’Surney, of Henrico.

Evelyn Lam of Glen Allen was named to the president’s honor roll for the fall 2018 semester at Washington State University. The president’s honor roll recognizes students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.75.

Maurice Wilson of Henrico was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2018 semester at Champlain College in Burlington, Vt. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Wilson is majoring in business management.

The following local students were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2018 semester at The University of Alabama: James Cover, Lauren Golmon, Mackenzie O’Barr, Emilie Saksvig, Emma Snearer, Logan Strusky and Meredith Taylor, of Glen Allen; and Maura Lyons, Bridget Boggs, Lily Calkins, Finley Griffin, Barclay Jumet, Anna Marks, Taylor Pawlowski, Margaret Smith, Laura Valentine and Carter Chambliss, of Henrico. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or greater.

Shreya Shetty was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2018 semester at Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. To earn this distinction, students must earn a semester quality point average of 3.5 or greater. Shetty also is a member of the University Honors Program.

Thomas Walker of Henrico was awarded dean’s list honors during the fall 2018 semester at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Dean’s list honors recognize students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or greater.

Mitchell Sutfin of Glen Allen graduated Dec. 14 from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Sutfin earned a bachelor of arts degree in Media and Culture.

Kelly Lee of Glen Allen graduated Dec. 15 from The University of Alabama. Lee earned a bachelor of science degree in Geology.

Aryna Taylor of Henrico earned dean’s list honors for the fall 2018 semester at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Md. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a 3.4 or greater grade point average for the semester. Taylor is the daughter of Tina Crutchfield.

Cristhian Martinez of Henrico was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2018 semester at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.7 or greater.

Nichole Gould of Glen Allen and Olivia Laskin of Henrico were awarded dean’s honor roll status for the fall 2018 semester at Oklahoma City University. To receive this recognition, students must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for the semester.
