Delegate Dawn M. Adams recently was named recipient of the 2019 American Association of Nurse Practitioners Virginia State Award for Nurse Practitioner Advocate Excellence. The award is given annually to a dedicated nurse practitioner and NP advocate in each state. Recipients will be honored at an awards ceremony and reception held during the AANP 2019 National Conference, June 18-23, in Indianapolis, Ind.


The following local students graduated Dec. 15 from James Madison University: Alexa Crawford Evans, Cannan Olivia Keller, Colin Haynes Alexander, Kate Alexandra Tyre and Taylor Randolph Robinson, of Henrico; and Kasey Hannah Keup, Kelly Anne Price, Kimberly Faye Fortune and Morgan Elizabeth Wilmoth, of Glen Allen. Cameron Marie Williams and Suzanne Marie Varner of Henrico graduated during the Dec. 15 graduate school commencement exercises.


Hannah Polaski, of Henrico, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2018 semester at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa. To earn this distinction, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher.

To earn dean’s list status, students must earn a semester quality point average of 3.6 or higher.


Lauren Wells of Glen Allen was named to the dean’s list with high honors for the fall 2018 semester at McDaniel College in Westminster, Md. To qualify for the dean’s list with high honors, students must earn a grade point average of 3.70 to 3.89 for the semester.


Isabella Ronson of Henrico was named to the dean’s list with highest honors for the fall 2018 semester at the University of New Hampshire. To qualify for the dean’s list with highest honors, students must earn a grade point average of 3.85 or higher. Ronson is majoring in business administration.


Theron Powell of Glen Allen was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2018 semester at Roane State Community College in Harriman, Tenn. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a 3.5 or greater grade point average for the semester.


The following local students were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2018 semester at the University of Delaware: Catherine Canning, of Glen Allen; and Jacob Sitison, Elizabeth Fleming and Abigail Merkel, of Henrico. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.33 or higher.


Cardinal Newman Academy, a Catholic school in Henrico, recently named Stephen Fitzpatrick its new head of school. He will replace Eileen Lapington, who will resign from her role as director at the end of the academic year. Fitzpatrick is a graduate of Thomas Aquinas College and has a master’s degree in theology from the University of Scranton. He has been a teacher, administrator and coach in several public and Catholic schools in Canada and the United States, most recently Gregory the Great Academy in Pennsylvania.
