The following local students were named to the dean’s list for the fall 2018 semester at Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C.: Stephen Baker, of Glen Allen; and David Durrette and Hannah Durrette, of Henrico. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.0 to 3.74. Baker is a junior sports management major. David Durrette is a junior business administration major. Hannah Durrette is a junior educational studies major.


Emma Hester of Henrico was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2018 semester at York College of Pennsylvania. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher. Hester is a freshman with an undeclared major.


Angelo Joseph Ferrer Olayvar of Henrico was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2018 semester at Eastern Mennonite University.  To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.75 or higher.


Collin Missimer of Glen Allen was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2018 semester at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. Dean’s list status is granted to students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.6 or higher.


Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger (D-7th District) announced that Maryam Janani will join her official staff as legislative director. Janani, a former senior legislative assistant to Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX) and director of policy and research for the Beto for Texas senatorial campaign, comes into her new role with a background in health policy, public policy and economics. Her professional experience spans both the public and private sectors, as well as domestic and international non-profit groups. She holds degrees from Harvard University (BA, Neurobiology) and Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs (MPA).


Heather Jenkins of Glen Allen graduated magna cum laude in December from Iowa State University. She earned a bachelor of science in construction engineering.


Michelle Morrisey of Henrico was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2018 semester at Clarion University of Pennsylvania.
