Virginia Irby, of Henrico, earned the Dean’s Award with Distinction for the spring 2018 semester at Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y. To earn this distinction, students must have a semester average of 3.6 or above. Irby, a Peace & Conflict Studies major, is a graduate of Douglas Freeman High School.


Gov. Ralph Northam recently announced additional appointments to his Administration. Christopher Tsui, of Henrico, was named to the Virginia Lottery Board. Tsui is president of EAT Restaurant Partners. Christopher R. Nolen, of Henrico, was reappointed to the Commission for the Promotion of Uniformity of Legislation. Nolen is senior-vice president of McGuireWoods Consulting, LLC.


Danielle L. Weldon, of Glen Allen, was named to the president’s list for the spring 2018 semester at Chowan University in Murfreesboro, N.C. To qualify for the president’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.8 or above.


Hallie Miller, of Henrico, was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2018 semester at Furman University in Greenville, S.C. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.4 or above. Miller is the daughter of Marcia and Carl Miller.


Mariele Berkowitz, of Henrico, graduated in May from LIM College in New York, N.Y.  She received a bachelor of business administration degree in marketing.


Lindsay Tuck, of Henrico, graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in August with a master's degree in social work.


Henrico native Buck Kirtland, a member of the Emory & Henry College men’s cross country team, was named to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Sportsmanship Team for the 2017-18 academic year. Teams were recognized in each of the league's 24 sports including the 16 NCAA Division III programs sponsored by Emory & Henry College.
