The Richmond Regional Planning District Commission (RRPDC) installed new officers for its fiscal year 2019 during its meeting July 12. Tyrone E. Nelson, who represents the Varina District on the Henrico County Board of Supervisors, will serve as vice chair. New officers will serve effective immediately for a one-year term ending June 30, 2019.


Gregory Crutchfield, of Henrico, recently graduated from Grantham University. Crutchfield earned an online master of business administration degree.


The following Henrico County residents recently graduated from Western Governors University: Molly Kinsey, Chad Matney, Rebecca Coviello, Eric Banton, James Heyward, Emily Arnold and Loretta Wilson.


The following area students graduated May 4 from East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C.: Tia Jackson, of Glen Allen; and Elizabeth Catoe, Sean Farmer, Nicholas Musarra, Desmond Dowling and Peyton Elwell, of Henrico.


Gov. Ralph Northam recently announced additional appointments to his Administration. Richard Gregory, of Henrico, was named to the Board of Housing and Community Development. He is chairman of Lynx Ventures. Cecilia E. Barbosa, of Henrico, was reappointed to the Virginia Latino Advisory Board. She is principal at cBe consulting.

Shravya Shetty

Shravya Shetty, of Glen Allen, has successfully completed the Research Apprenticeship Program at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, N.C. Participating students spent four weeks learning research methods from faculty mentors in N.C. A&T’s College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences and conducting an independent research project. Shetty, the daughter of Sagar and Seetha Allamshetty, finished a research project entitled “Growth Studies on Cellulose Degrading Bacteria.” She is a rising junior at Deep Run High School.


Megan Elizabeth Shaia, of Henrico, graduated in May from Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y. Shaia earned a doctor of physical therapy degree.


George Apostle and Sabrina Daglish, of Henrico, were named to the dean’s list for the spring 2018 semester at Loyola University in Baltimore, Md. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a quality point average of 3.500 or greater for the term.


Mingyuan Geng, of Glen Allen, and Eloise Whitlock, of Henrico, graduated in May from the University of Alabama. Geng earned a BS in Commerce Business Administration. Whitlock earned a master of arts and BS in Commerce Business Administration.
