Henrico County residents Uday Patil and Paige Rutherford earned faculty honors for the spring 2018 semester at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. This designation is awarded to undergraduate students who have a 4.0 academic average for the semester.


Kylie Lynch, of Glen Allen, was named to the president’s list for the spring 2018 semester at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Students who rank in the top three percent of undergraduate students within each division for the semester are named to the president’s list. Lynch is majoring in English (Creative Writing).


Gov. Ralph Northam recently announced additional appointments to his Administration. Deborah Davidson, of Henrico, was named to the Commonwealth Council on Aging. Davidson is director of nursing services at Little Sisters of the Poor. Vanessa Rakestraw, Ph.D., of Henrico, and Joseph Stepp, CPA CGFM, of Glen Allen, were appointed to the Virginia Board of Directors of the Birth-Related Neurological Injury Compensation Program. Rakestraw is retired from Virginia Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services. Stepp is a financial advisor at Assistive Technology Loan Fund Authority.


Glen Allen resident Ryan Jones, a student at the University of North Georgia, is attending the Summer Language Institute this summer. The SLI runs June 18 through July 29 and is open to students accepted to UNG, either as dual-enrollment students, incoming freshman, transfer students or cadets. Languages include Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Russian. At the end of the six-week program, students are tested on their new language skills by the Oral Proficiency Interview – Computer, an internet-delivered test that provides reliable oral proficiency.


Jeb Beeghly, of Henrico, and Colin McGarry, of Glen Allen, graduated May 12 from Ohio Wesleyan University. Both students earned a bachelor of arts degree.


Caroline E. Skoog, of Henrico, was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2018 semester at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a 3.66 grade point average for the semester. Skoog is a sophomore in the College of Liberal Arts.


Hannah Hawkins, of Henrico, was named to the president’s honor roll for the spring 2018 semester at Oklahoma Baptist University. The president’s honor roll recognizes students who achieved a semester grade point average of 3.7 or higher.


Isabella Ronson, of Henrico, was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2018 semester at the University of New Hampshire. Ronson earned highest honors which recognizes students who earn a minimum 3.85 grade point average for the semester. She is majoring in Business Administration.


D’Angelo Brown, of Glen Allen, and Shinique Smith, of Henrico, were named to the dean’s list for the spring 2018 semester at SUNY Oneonta. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a 3.5 or greater grade point average for the semester.
