Qadira Muhammad, of Henrico, recently was elected president of the Student Government Association for the 2018-19 academic year at Mary Baldwin University. Muhammad also was inducted into the Laurel Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society.


Brent Paulsen, of Glen Allen, graduated May 5 from Chadron State College in Chadron, Neb. Paulsen received a master of business administration degree.


Glen Allen resident Jamie Mears, a sophomore majoring in integrated science and technology at James Madison University, is part of a team of 30 JMU students who are competing this week in the Collegiate Wind Competition sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy. The team has been preparing for the competition for about a year and the final phase, the judging, will take place May 8-10 in Chicago at the annual meeting of the American Wind Energy Association.


Michael Wayne Wright, of Henrico, recently graduated from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kan. Wright received a bachelor of business administration in management degree.


Gabrielle Corsetti and Austin Pawlowski, of Henrico, recently graduated from Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C. Both students earned a bachelor of science degree in marine science.


Seventeen of the newest Marine Corps officers, including Alec Reddy of Henrico, took their commissioning oath May 4 at The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. Reddy was officially sworn in as an officer during the South Carolina Corps of Cadets commencement ceremony May 5.


Joshua Covington, of Henrico, recently graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Covington earned a master of business administration degree.


Stephen Baker, of Glen Allen, was named to the president’s list for the spring 2018 semester at Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C. To qualify for the president’s list, students must earn a 3.75 or greater grade point average for the semester. Baker is a junior majoring in Sports Management.
