Milestones

Abigail Kelley of Glen Allen has earned a $15,000 annual Presidential Scholarship to Albright College in Reading, Pa. A senior at Deep Run High School, Kelley will study Theatre and Secondary Education (7-12) at Albright. Presidential Scholarships are awarded to students who generally rank in the top five percent of their graduating class and demonstrate strong leadership skills and a commitment to service.

The following area students recently were initiated into the all-discipline collegiate honor society Phi Kappa Phi: Makayla Hislop (Radford University), Emily Kontos (James Madison University), Catherine Mares (East Carolina University), Xavier Mills (Longwood University), Julie Chappell (James Madison University) and Matthew Franklin (James Madison University), of Glen Allen; Lindsey McKim (James Madison University), of Sandston; and Callie Williams (Longwood University) and Bailey McInnis (Radford University), of Henrico.
