U.S. Congressman A. Donald McEachin (D-Fourth District) has scheduled several events in the district during the coming month to discuss his vision for the country, provide legislative updates, and hear directly from constituents.

Events will begin with a July 30 town hall about gun violence in Petersburg/Tri-Cities with special guest Secretary of Public Safety Brian Moran, in cooperation with Virginia Moms Demand Action (6 p.m. at Pathways-VA, 1200 W. Washington St. Petersburg).

Another town hall will be held Aug. 1 with Congressman Bobby Scott in Chesapeake (6 p.m. New Mount Olive Baptist Church; 662 Fernwood Farms Road, Chesapeake).

On Aug. 7, McEachin will hold a town hall about health care in Emporia in cooperation with the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus, City of Emporia, and local health care experts (6:30 p.m. City Council Chambers, 201 S. Main St. Emporia).

McEachin will also be hosting several book drops at libraries in the district and will meet with constituents in Surry County Aug. 3 to discuss food deserts, an issue about which he has introduced bicameral legislation with U.S. Senator Mark Warner of Virginia (10:30 a.m. Dendron Community Center; 2850 Rolfe Highway, Dendron).
