The event, now in its 15th year, is a collaboration between Sports Backers and Greater Richmond Fit4Kids, with the latter being the event's official charity.

“Markel is grateful to be part of this beloved corporate event and this partnership with Sports Backers,” said Sue Davies, Chief Human Resources Officer. “We believe in the power of a healthy workforce, and together, we look forward to making a positive impact on the lives of participants and our community.”

The event is open to companies of all sizes and is designed as a way for teams to get outside, exercise, and collaborate. Last year’s Corporate Run involved 146 company teams and more than 3,000 participants. Greater Richmond Fit4Kids supports children's health by encouraging physical activity and healthy eating in schools, communities, and beyond.

Companies interested in participating in the Markel Corporate Run can attend the upcoming Team Captain Rally, March 20 at the Innsbrook Capital Ale House, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., to learn more about the event. That event will feature door prizes, raffles, and other giveaways.
