The 25-year-old Richmond man facing second-degree murder charges in connection with the June 6 murder of a woman in Eastern Henrico was found dead inside a Hampton hotel room Wednesday morning after barricading himself inside, according to Henrico and Hampton Police.

Just before 9:30 a.m., Hampton Police officer, Henrico County Police investigators and the United States Marshals Taskforce responded to the Red Roof Inn hotel on Coliseum Drive after learning that Christopher Leon White, Jr. (the suspect in the death of Chardonnay Gunn near the Shops at White Oak Village) was inside a room there.

Officers then learned that White was barricaded inside and had a weapon.

The Hampton SWAT Team, as well as the Crisis Negotiation Team responded to the scene and attempted to take White into custody, but when SWAT members made entry into the room, they found White dead inside.

Twenty-three-year-old Bronte Elise Adams of Richmond also has been identified as an additional suspect in Gunn’s murder, and police obtained a warrant for accessory after the fact – homicide. Adams was arrested in Hampton and taken to a local jail.

The investigation was a multi-jurisdictional effort involving Virginia Beach Police, Hampton Police, Norfolk Police, Virginia State Police, and the U.S. Marshals.
