Man shoots, kills another at Ft. Harrison in Varina, then calls police

UPDATED: JUNE 8, 4 P.M. – A man shot and killed another man at Ft. Harrison in Varina during the early morning hours of June 8, then called police to report what he had done.

It happened just before 3 a.m. along Picnic Road, near Battlefield Park Road. Henrico Police officers responding to the call from 21-year-old Robert Martin Seward of Henrico detained him and provided first aid to the victim, identified as 36-year-old Brandon Keith Temple of Henrico. Temple was transported to the hospital, where he later died.

Henrico Police will conduct an investigation while coordinating any additional efforts with the U.S. National Park Service, since the incident occurred on Park Service property.

Police took Seward into custody custody and are not seeking anyone else in connection with the shooting. Seward is facing charges of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
