Man dies in tractor-trailer crash on Route 301

A tractor-trailer accident in northern Henrico County Monday has claimed the life of one man.
The truck was found overturned near Upham Drive and Chamberlayne is being withheld until notification has been made to his family. It’s unclear, but presumed, that he was the driver of the truck.
While crews work to clear the roadway, detours are set up that affect traffic in both directions on Chamberlayne Road. Southbound Chamberlayne is being detoured onto Upham Drive and then to an immediate right onto the Chamberlayne bypass. Northbound traffic on Chamberlayne must merge onto I-95 North, where traffic can exit onto Parham Road or I-295. These detours are to protect crews working as well as the heavy-duty equipment needed to upright the truck and clear the roadway.
The detours may be in effect until the evening rush hour, according to police. Drivers are encouraged to seek an alternate route or allow extra time traveling through the area.
