Local Montessori School moves, changes name

The Glen Allen Community Montessori School, has moved to a new home in Lakeside at the Overbrook Presbyterian Church and has adopted a new name as Wild Fern Montessori School.

Executive Director Brei Stevenson said the new name better reflects the school’s evolving identity and the move is designed to better serve the families that would benefit from having it nearby.

“It didn’t make sense to no longer be located in Glen Allen and keep the name,” Brei explained. “This move provided the perfect opportunity to reflect on who we are, why we are here, and to be creative about what the name means to us.”

The school was created with the mission to find ways to make the Montessori system accessible to families who otherwise wouldn’t have been able to consider it, she said.

“Overbrook Presbyterian Church and its Oasis After School Childcare ministry are excited to have Wild Fern Montessori School join us in our mission of enriching the lives of children and supporting the families of the Lakeside Community,” Pastor Mark Jernigan said.
