A local gathering will support an international movement today at 1 p.m. in Glen Allen.
Groups and organizations throughout the nation and world are holding "climate strikes" today, three days before the United Nations Climate Summit begins in New York City, to demand that legislators take "transformative action" to address the climate.
Locally, local activist and author Debbie Barbuto (who writes under the name "Mommy Moo Moo") is organizing a climate strike event beginning at 1 p.m. at Meadow Farm Museum at Crump Park, 3400 Mountain Road in Glen Allen.
Attendees will meet in the first open field beyond the playground. Supporters of the movement are posting on social media using the #ClimateStrike hashtag.
