Because of the increased traffic flow trying to avoid other Henrico area roads paralyzed by massive road construction, and since the speed limits have recently been lowered on many other Henrico County roads around us, the already busy Derbyshire Road my wife and I moved onto 22 years ago has come to resemble Interstate 95!

No matter the time of day, cars accelerate with speeds of over 50 mph up and down Derbyshire Road in-spite of its permitted speed of 35 mph being clearly marked with posted signs!

Truth-be-told, there's no need for any of our neighbors to drive all the way to the Richmond Raceway because from our porches, living rooms, or just about anyplace stationed on Derbyshire Road you can watch NASCAR free of charge!

Although it's been over 15 years since many of the Derbyshire Road residents took part in a meeting with Tuckahoe Magisterial District Supervisor Patricia O'Bannon regarding stop-light installation at the vicinities of Derbyshire and Mooreland Roads to ease traffic-gridlock for those attending and/or employed by the private Collegiate School, we still laugh to this day at her answer to one of our major questions/concerns.

And, even though we still crack up from her answer of a decade-and-a-half ago, whether it was the traffic of that era or today's even heavier traffic, it remains uncompromising to the Derbyshire Road residents.

It seems Ms. O'Bannon's critique on Derbyshire's cut-through drivers back then is as erroneous nowadays, since they still will not: "Let you out of your driveways!"

Sincerely,

Ricky Knight, Henrico
