League of Women Voters of Virginia hosting poster contest for MS, HS students

Table of Contents

The LWV's "Every Vote Counts – and is Counted!" contest is encouraging middle and high school students to submit creative depictions that highlight one of the following themes: Voting is Important in Our Democracy; Voting Requires Following Specific Laws; Voting and a Vote Should Depend on True, Not False, Information; and Every Vote will be Handled Legally, Carefully and Counted Correctly.

To enter the competition, students must submit a one-page poster that addresses one of the themes above. The organization will judge the entries and award cash prizes of $750, $350, and $250 for the first, second, and third place winners in both middle and high school categories.

The winning posters will be used by the LWV to support voter education efforts in the upcoming elections. The organization hopes to empower students and young adults about their role as active citizens and encourage them to avoid misinformation and other efforts that aim to interfere with the right to vote.
