Beginning Oct. 13, Leadership Metro Richmond and Robins Foundation will present a virtual three-part series designed to address the challenges of turning the aspirational idea of equity into action.

"Equity: From Concept to Action" will feature nationally renowned thought leaders and virtual conversations centering around the idea of disrupting and dismantling the various systems of inequity that still exist all around.

Session 1, "Challenging Cultural Biases," will take place Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. via Zoom. Tim Wise, author of Under the Affluence: Shaming the Poor, Praising the Rich and Sacrificing the Future of America will focus on a perspective of how American politics and culture rationalize inequalities on the basis of class and race. Registration fee is $25.

Session 2, "Creating Conditions for Equity," will take place Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. via Zoom and will feature a workshop with Hugh Vasquez, one of the country’s top equity and diversity educators. Registration fee is $25.

Session 3, "The Problem We All Live With," will take place Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. via YouTube Live Stream.  Nikole Hannah-Jones, best known as the lead writer on the New York Times’ The 1619 Project, will take part in a keynote conversation with Dr. Jamelle Wilson, Dean of University of Richmond School of Professional and Continuing Studies. A question-and-answer session with attendees will follow. Questions must be submitted in advance of Oct. 1, so early registration is encouraged.  Registration fee is $50, or $25 for full-time students.
