The Lakeside Volunteer Rescue Squad will host a community car seat check event  April 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The rescue squad is located at 2007 Timberlake Avenue.

Certified child passenger safety technicians will be present to provide child safety seat checks, ensuring that parents and caregivers have the knowledge and skills necessary to properly install their child’s safety seat. Four out of five car seats are installed incorrectly, according to safety data.

The event is open to the public, and attendees must bring a car seat with them. The process typically takes about 30 minutes. In addition to the safety seat checks, LVRS members will be available to provide ambulance tours, answer questions about becoming a member, and take donations.

“This event is not only a great way to meet our community members and provide a service for them, but it also allows us to know that we have done what we can do to ensure that the children in the community are safe when they travel,” said LVRS President Andy Inge.
