Krispy Kreme

A second Krispy Kreme Doughnuts may soon be coming to Henrico County.

The company wants to build a store near Tom Leonard’s Farmer’s Market in Short Pump, and the Henrico Board of Supervisors Tuesday will consider its request to do so.

The 4,037-square-foot location is planned in the Brookhollow Shopping Center, on the north side of West Broad Street just west of Tom Leonard’s. The shopping center contains a Kohl’s department store, a Sonic fast food location and other retailers.

Krispy Kreme doesn’t need to rezone the land but does need the board’s permission to build a stand-alone, or outparcel, building, because existing zoning conditions permit only three and this would be the fourth.

The location would feature a drive-through window, like the other Krispy Kreme in Henrico near Willow Lawn, which has been a staple on that section of West Broad Street for decades.

If approved, the Short Pump location would become just the third Krispy Kreme store in the Richmond region. The Henrico Planning Commission last month endorsed the proposal, but supervisors will have the final say.
