Kitchen Classroom, a culinary education center providing hands-on cooking classes, has acquired Henrico-based RVA Food Safety LLC, a provider of in-person ServeSafe Manager classes and testing.

The acquisition will expand Kitchen Classroom's services to offer food safety training and certification to food service professionals in the Richmond area, company officials said in a statement.

RVA Food Safety will now leverage Kitchen Classroom's kitchen to enhance its classes and also plans to introduce Spanish language ServeSafe Manager classes in the late fall.

“We believe this acquisition will greatly benefit the food service industry by offering unparalleled learning and testing opportunities in a professional kitchen setting,” said Warren Haskell, founder and owner of Kitchen Classroom.

ServeSafe certifications are valid for five years, necessitating ongoing training for industry professionals.
