Thirty grant awards will be announced in June, one day at a time throughout the month. The application period is open through April 30.

Proposals may be submitted for any of four categories: litter prevention, cigarette litter prevention, community beautification, and recycling. Past projects funded by the Keep Virginia Beautiful organization include the installation of cigarette butt receptacles outside of municipal buildings and restaurants, as well as the purchase of litter cleanup supplies.

Executive Director Cristi Lawton said that the program is designed to help engage and unite Virginians to improve the natural and scenic environment.

Since the Keep Virginia Beautiful organization was founded in 2011, it has provided more than $307,000 to 415 different projects throughout Virginia.
