Keep Henrico Beautiful recognizes Land Lover, Clean Business Award winners

The Keep Henrico Beautiful Committee recently selected the winners of its annual awards program that recognizes properties that are beautifully landscaped and highlight best practices for soil and water conservation and garden habitats.
In its 28th year, the program is honoring each magisterial district’s recipient of the Land Lover Award and a countywide winner of the Clean Business Award. Winners were recognized at the Henrico Board of Supervisors meeting June 28.
The winners of the Land Lover award for residential properties are:
• J.T. and Betty Millard, of the Brookland District;
• the Conboy family, of the Fairfield District;
• Diane Moxley, of the Three Chopt District;
• Vince and Kelly Brooks, of the Tuckahoe District;
• and Sara Jordan, of the Varina District.
Lynnhaven School, at 8151 Warriner Road, is the recipient of the Clean Business Award.
The awards, presented annually since 1995, recognize residential and business properties that are attractively landscaped, well-maintained and litter-free.
To be eligible for a Land Lover Award, residents must perform their own landscaping and lawn care. Nominees for a Land Lover or Clean Business award must participate in an ongoing recycling program, such as composting, curbside pickup or drop-off service.
The recipients of a Land Lover Award employed a variety of conservation best practices, such as lawn reduction, native plantings, pollinator gardens, rain barrels, rain gardens, solar panels, permeable pavement and the elimination or reduction of fertilizers and pesticides.
As the Clean Business honoree, Lynnhaven School was noted for its garden club, native plantings, bluebird box trail and reduction of impermeable surfaces.
