The Keep Henrico Beautiful Committee recently named the winners of its 29th annual awards program that recognizes properties in the county that are well-landscaped and use best practices for soil and water conservation and sustainable practices.
The program honors one residential property in each of the county's five magisterial districts with a Land Lover Award and one business in the county with the Clean Business Award.
This year's winners, recognized formally at the June 25 Henrico Board of Supervisors meeting, were:
• Brookland District Land Lover – Edward Deale;• Fairfield District Land Lover – Laura George;• Three Chopt District – Chris and Marty Migliaccio;• Tuckahoe District – The Schreiber family;• Varina District – Morgan Halverson.
The Clean Business Award winner was Short Pump Animal Hospital, at 4730 Pouncey Tract Road, honored for its pet waste receptacles, extensive recycling program, and a no-mow section of its property to allow native plants and pollinators to thrive.
