Kanawha Redskins celebrate 30 years

[maxgallery id="31568"]The Kanawha Redskins celebrated their 30th anniversary with a homecoming event Sept. 30. The youth football organization, created in 1987 by Red Roberts to provide another option for youngsters, has served thousands of athletes and cheerleaders in the three decades since. The organization initially called Maybeury Elementary School and Deep Run home, but later found a permanent home at Short Pump Park.

Kanawha includes flag football, 8U, 10U, 11U and 12U teams and cheerleaders. Among those in attendance at the homecoming event were members of the Roberts family (pictured, top). Kanawha's 9U and 10U football teams defeated their Glen Allen Ravens opponents.
