Jenkins Foundations makes grants to 17 health-focused nonprofits

The grants are being distributed in two parts this year; the organization averages $2.6 million in grants annually. The money can be used to expand or continue providing services.

The Jenkins Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports health equity through partnerships with community organizations and initiatives. Its mission is to improve the health of disadvantaged communities through community-based health services, especially for uninsured and underinsured people in the Metro Richmond region.

The recipients are:

• Access Now, Inc.  • Assisting Families of Inmates  • Better Housing Coalition  • Birth in Color RVA Foundation   • Challenge Discovery Projects, Inc.  • Commonwealth Catholic Charities  • Daily Planet Health Services  • Family Lifeline  • Greater Richmond SCAN  • HomeAgain  • Latinos in Virginia Empowerment Center  • Sacred Heart Center  • South Richmond Adult Day Care Center  • UMFS  • Virginia Dental Association Foundation  • Virginia Supportive Housing  • YWCA of Richmond .
