At its Aug. 22 meeting, the Rotary Club of Innsbrook presented checks to 13 nonprofit organizations that serve a wide spectrum of community needs.

Representatives from the charities were on hand to receive their funds and make brief remarks about their missions, who they serve and which community needs they help meet. They also informed the Rotarians about the specific use of the funds.

There was a formal, competitive grant process to make applications for funding. Nineteen organizations requested support.

The 13 selected for grants were: Change the World RVA, Effective Ministries, Henrico Firefighter Foundation, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Sportable, Henrico Police Athletic League, Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Richmond, Jackson-Feild Behavioral Health Services, The Read Center, Shady Grove YMCA, RAMPS, Coal Pit Learning Center and Jewish Family Services.

The Rotary Club of Innsbrook has been involved with the Henrico community for 30 years and has donated more than $825,000 during that time to improve the quality of life of people in need.
