The Henrico Citizen has named its inaugural Citizen Advisory Board members – 15 Henricoans who will serve one-year volunteer terms to provide input, ideas and feedback about previous, current and future Citizen coverage.

The Citizen created the board as a way to deepen its connections within the county and ensure that open lines of communication exist between communities and groups from all corners of Henrico.

The inaugural board members were selected from nearly 90 applicants. The board includes three members from each of the county’s five magisterial districts. The eight men and seven women reside in 11 different ZIP Codes. Eight are white, five are Black and two are Asian. They range in age from 23 to 74.

Members include a foundation director, a courtroom clerk, a teacher, a police detective, a real estate firm owner, a retired federal employee and a government analyst, among other professions.

The board is expected to meet at least quarterly to provide input to Citizen staff members and engage in discussion about possible topics of coverage. It also may expand to provide assistance in other ways yet to be determined.

Each board member brings a unique perspective and background to the board, which generally reflects the diverse composition of Henrico County.
