Housing Families First to host campaign kick-off breakfast Oct. 20

Housing Families First will host a kickoff event Oct. 20 to announce its new Opening Doors for Families capital campaign. The breakfast event will take place from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at 3900 Nine Mile Rd.

The new campaign has a $4.4 million fundraising goal, which will allow Housing Families First to expand services and facilities to help an additional 300 children and parents each year, while also enhancing the experience of volunteers and professional staff.  When campaign goals are reached, Housing Families First will be able to provide expanded opportunities for permanent housing, 10 additional shelter beds in private room settings, emergency shelter services for 50 more family members each year, an additional fully handicapped-accessible shelter bedroom and bathroom, and improvements in parking, communal and children's activity areas.
