Housing Families First seeks donations for holiday meals drive

Housing Families First, a Henrico County based nonprofit that serves families with children facing homelessness, has launched a new initiative to provide holiday meal kits for local families in need.

HFF is now collecting holiday meal packages for families in its programs. Meal kits will include a variety of nonperishable items, such as instant mashed potatoes, yams, stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce, roll/biscuit mix, cookie mix, and more.

Additionally, holiday meal kits will include a $40 grocery gift card for each family to purchase perishable items, such as a turkey or ham.

HFF’s goal is to provide 55 meal kits with all the fixings so families facing homelessness and housing instability can enjoy holiday meals together.

“Holiday meal kits are a wonderful way for our community of supporters to help families in need during the holiday season,” said Julie Miller, HFF’s communications and community engagement manager. “These meals bring joy to the families we serve and truly make the holidays a more special time.”

HFF is currently accepting holiday meal kit donations. The kits will be compiled and delivered by HFF staff. Families in HFF programs will receive holiday meal kits before Thanksgiving in November and before winter holidays in December.
