Two descendants of Pvt. Moses Bradford, a Buffalo Soldier who served in the Spanish American War, are shown (above, at left) at the Sons and Daughters of Ham African American Cemetery in Henrico's Near West End July 28. Also pictured are a marker for the memorial meditation garden recognizing Bradford, and flagbearers from the St. Mary's Boy Scout troop. The event also recognized the 150-year anniversary of the founding of the site in 1873.

The nonprofit that oversees the cemetery is seeking volunteers to assist with their efforts at the site. Apply by emailing HamCemeteryRVA@gmail.com.
