The Springers won their third consecutive state Class 5 football championship Sunday, racing to a 33-point lead against Tuscarora and cruising to a 40-27 victory at Hampton University.

Highland Springs scored on its first five possessions – including touchdowns on quarterback D'Vonte Waller's first two passes of the game. The Springers led 33-0 with time remaining in the first half. Tuscarora rallied in the third quarter, but the deficit was too daunting.
