Here’s how to remotely address the Board of Supervisors Tuesday night

Table of Contents

The Henrico Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing about its proposed operating and capital budgets for the 2020-21 fiscal year April 13 beginning at 6 p.m.

The budget will look different from the original $1.4-billion plan County Manager John Vithoulkas had proposed just last month. County officials have implemented a hiring freeze and suspended all new planned capital project expenses in light of the COVID-19 outbreak. Last month, Vithoulkas and county finance officials said they would plan to budget for the coming fiscal year, which begins July 1, in three-month increments rather than in one full year plan. That's because of the uncertainty surrounding the outbreak, how long it will last and what its associated impact on county revenues will be.

Members of the public are able to comment in person to the board, but since county officials are limiting in-room attendance at the Government Center at 4301 East Parham Road to no more than 10 people (including the five board members and other county officials), they’ve also devised a way for interested citizens to comment remotely.

To participate remotely, citizens should sign up at https://henrico.us/services/citizen-participation-registration/. They will then receive an email with instructions on registering for a WebEx meeting, which will enable them to provide comments by phone.

Anyone planning to participate remotely should follow the livestream of the public hearing and meeting at https://henrico.us/supervisors/video-of-meetings/. There is as much as a 60-second delay between the real-time meeting and the livestream.

In addition, citizens may submit written comments by email to har66@henrico.us. Email comments received before the public hearing will be provided to the Board of Supervisors and included in the record of the hearing.
