Henrico's new daily COVID case count steady near 70

Henrico County reported 61 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, according to the Virginia Department of Health. After reporting a slight increase in cases during the past week, the county has settled at a seven-day moving average of 68 daily new cases.

During the Easter weekend, there were a total of eight virus-related deaths and four virus-related hospitalizations among Henrico residents, according to VDH data.

With the slight increase in new cases came new outbreaks. After the total number of outbreaks in Henrico County rested around 185 for weeks, the county reported several new outbreaks during the weekend, reporting a total of 193 on Monday, according to VDH data. More than 3,500 COVID-19 cases in the county have been associated with these outbreaks.

The average positivity rate among PCR and antigen rapid testing encounters both have increased, with the latter reaching almost 10 percent, according to VDH data. For PCR tests, the rate jumped to 6.6 percent after reaching the lowest rate of the year just last week at 4.9 percent. These rates, reported as of April 1, and other testing information intentionally lags behind a few days to include as much data as possible.

More than 170,000 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Henrico County, according to the VDH. Almost 115,000 Henricoans have received at least one dose of the vaccine, with 63,377 being fully vaccinated.

Virginia's vaccination efforts have expanded, with more than 75,000 doses being administered on average every day, according to VDH data. With more than 4.2 million doses administered across the state so far, 32.8% of Virginians have at least one dose of the vaccine, and more than 18% are fully vaccinated.
