Henrico's new COVID cases spike again

For the first time since Jan. 10, the number of new COVID-19 cases reported in Henrico County increased Friday, from 133 Thursday to 198. The county also reported eight new hospitalizations related to the virus Friday – the most on a single day since Dec. 18 – but no new deaths.

During the past seven days, Henrico is now averaging four hospitalizations per day related to the virus – the highest such average since late November, when it reached about five per day.

Henrico now has experienced more than 15,200 total confirmed cases of COVID, as well as 725 hospitalizations and 313 deaths.

Henrico’s PCR positivity rate during the seven-day period ending Jan. 11 was down to 12.1%, while the rapid testing percentage during the same period declined to 11.3%. Henrico continues to average just more than 2,400 testing encounters per day, with about two-thirds of those being PCR tests.
