Henrico's new COVID cases drop for third straight day, but deaths reach 27 since Jan. 19

On Friday, Henrico County reported 167 new cases of COVID-19, as cases continued to fall for the third straight day, according to the Virginia Department of Health. The county reached a seven-day average of 193 cases reported daily.

Henrico County also reported four new virus-related hospitalizations and three new deaths, according to VDH data. The new deaths increased to 13 the number related to COVID reported in Henrico during the past four days and to 27 the number reported since Jan. 19.

As of Jan. 25, Henrico reached a seven-day average positivity rate of 10.9 percent for PCR tests and 8.9 percent for rapid tests, according to VDH data. Both types of testing encounters are on a slight decline from previous days. These percentages lag several days behind in order to include as much data as possible.

Almost 30,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Henrico County, according to the VDH. Of these, 4,695 Henricoans have received both doses necessary for full vaccination.

With about 600,000 vaccines administered so far, the state of Virginia is averaging 28,457 vaccines given a day as of Jan. 25, according to VDH data.

The number of outbreaks in Henrico surpassed 150, according to the VDH. More than 3,000 cases in the county are linked to these outbreaks (incidents where two or more cases were found to be related).
