Henrico's new COVID-19 case count jumps dramatically Friday

A day after reporting just 91 new COVID-19 cases – its lowest this year – Henrico County reported 233 new cases Friday, according to the Virginia Department of Health. The county’s seven-day moving average of daily new cases is 144.

Henrico also reported four new virus-related deaths, a slight increase from previous days, and one new hospitalization, according to the VDH.

As of Feb. 1, Henrico's average positivity rate among PCR tests reached 10.4 percent as of Feb. 1, according to VDH data. More than 270,000 PCR testing encounters have been reported so far in the county, with rapid tests closing in on a total of 60,000 reported encounters. The latter tests garnered an average positivity rate of 8.2 percent during the same seven-day period.

There have been almost 160 outbreaks of COVID-19 in Henrico County, according to the VDH. Exactly 3,286 cases have been connected to these outbreaks, incidents where two or more cases were figured to be related.

More than 40,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Henrico County, according to VDH data, and 6,578 Henricoans being fully vaccinated.

In the state of Virginia, almost 10 percent of the population has received one dose of the vaccine, according to the VDH. Close to one million doses have been administered statewide.
