Henrico's first-time unemployment claims drop slightly

Henrico County witnessed a slight drop in the number of new first-time unemployment claims during the most recent reporting week, according to data released March 18 by the Virginia Employment Commission.
A total of 265 people filed initial claims during the week of March 7-13, down from 281 the previous week. That ranked Henrico (the seventh-largest locality in Virginia) 13th in the state in most filings during the week.
The number of continuing filers in the county fell to 1,902 from 1,979 the previous week, ranking the county eighth among state localities.
