Henrico's COVID-19 positivity percentage increases slightly

Table of Contents

Henrico County's 7-day COVID-19 positivity percentage continues to rise as of July 11, reaching 6.1%. The percentage hadn’t exceeded 6% since June 28, but despite the recent climb, Henrico’s rate is still more than an entire percentage point lower than the statewide number.

Following 65 new confirmed cases during the past two days, Henrico now has 2,947 total cases among the 42,727 PCR tests conducted (a 6.8% positivity rate among those tested).

The county's hospitalized count increased by three, to 273, and the death count increased by two, to 175. The victims were all older than 60.

COVID-19 continues to affect Henrico County's racial demographics differently than it has in Virginia as a whole.

While COVID-19 has disproportionately affected Latino Virginians, with more than twice as many cases as Black Virginians and a third more than white Virginians, about 35% of Henrico residents with COVID-19 are Black, 26% are Latino and 29% are white.

A free COVID-19 testing event will be held July 16 at Tuckahoe Middle School, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., rain or shine. Call (804) 205-3501 to register. Walk-up testing also is available on a limited basis.
