Henrico’s confirmed COVID-19 case count rose from 78 yesterday to 87 today, according to statistics released this morning by the Virginia Department of Health.

Statewide, 222 new cases were confirmed, bumping the state’s total to 1,706. Seven more deaths related to the virus occured yesterday, raising Virginia’s total to 41.

Overall, nearly 10 percent of people who have been tested in Virginia so far have tested positive.

Yesterday, an employee of the Kroger supermarket on Eastridge Road in Henrico’s West End tested positive for the virus. The employee is quarantined at home. Store officials said the company has strict sanitary and cleaning procedures in place at all of its stores.
