Henrico Schools will host its second annual divisionwide “Back-to- School Kickoff” Aug. 17 at Dorey Park, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will include a mix of family activities, including a DJ, food trucks, performances and onsite school registration.
The event is sponsored by Henrico Schools’ Division of Communications and Community Engagement, and all Henrico County families are invited to attend.
Back-to-School Kickoff activities will include:
• An information fair (vendors with information about family resources).
• School performances throughout the day
• Dorey Park Farmers' Market
• DJ and dance contests
• Meet and talk with school leaders
• Kids' activities
• Giveaways
• Food trucks on site
• Free books for all ages
• Free school supplies (the first 100 students will receive a free book bag)
• Help with using Schoology and PowerSchool
• Math and reading activities
• Onsite school registration
• Complete online forms
• HCPS job-opportunities booth for prospective teachers, bus drivers and cafeteria workers
Dorey Park is located at 2999 Darbytown Road in Varina.
