Henrico County reported 161 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, after reporting just 263 this weekend, according to the Virginia Department of Health. The seven-day daily average continues to decline, dipping to 173 cases.

On Sunday, the county reported just 92 cases, its lowest single-day total since Dec. 27, though the VDH indicated that case counts reported Sunday might be lower than average and those reported Monday higher because of system upgrades.

According to the VDH, there was one new virus-related hospitalization and no new deaths related to the virus Monday. Only two new hospitalizations and one death were reported during the weekend in the county.

Henrico reported a seven-day positivity rate of 11.2 percent among PCR tests and 7.7 percent among antigen (rapid) tests as of Jan. 28, according to VDH data. This data lags behind a few days to include as many testing encounters as possible.

More than 35,000 Henricoans have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccination, according to the VDH, making it the second-highest county reporting vaccination count information. More than 5,000 Henrico citizens are fully vaccinated, receiving both doses necessary for full inoculation.

More than 3,000 cases of COVID-19 in Henrico can attributed to 153 outbreaks in the county – incidents in which two or more cases were related – according to VDH data. In Virginia, long-term care facilities have reached 28,000 outbreaks, with correctional facilities reporting 15,000 and congregate settings reporting more than 7,500.

About 719,000 Virginians – 8.4 percent of the state’s population – have received at least one dose of the vaccine, according to VDH data. On average, 33,675 vaccines are being administered each day, a rate that's been increasing each day since December.
