Henrico County’s daily average of new COVID cases during the past seven days rose to 54 Sunday – its all-time high – topping the previous record high of 53.43 from May 31.

Sunday, for the second consecutive day, the Virginia Department of Health reported 71 new cases of the virus among Henrico residents. The 142 new cases in a two-day period is tied for the second-highest such total in the county during the pandemic (May 30-31), trailing only the 146 cases reported here July 27-28.

A total of 33 new cases were reported in Henrico Monday.

The VDH also reported six new hospitalizations in Henrico related to the virus Sunday, the most on a single day since eight Aug. 12. One new death (of a person 80 or older) also was attributed to the virus in Henrico Saturday.

Henrico’s seven-day positivity percentage increased slightly to 5.7% as of Nov. 5. That rate intentionally lags several days behind in order to allow time for more tests and associated results to make their way to the state. Virginia’s statewide positivity percentage the same day was 6%.

Henrico currently mirrors the statewide average of 16.4 new daily cases of COVID per 100,000 people during the past seven days but is slightly lower in total cases per 100,000 during the past 14 (205, compared with the state average of 220.8).
