Table of Contents

Henrico’s confirmed COVID-19 case count is up to 2,162, as its 7-day moving average positivity percentage remains relatively stable at 11.9 percent.

The number of COVID-19 tests administered to Henrico citizens (about 15,500) amounts to roughly 4.6 percent of the county’s total population; about 14 percent of those results have come back positive.

Henrico’s 7-day positivity rate – the average number of positive test results during that period – has fluctuated between 11 percent and 12 percent this month. It peaked at 33.2 percent April 4 and mostly declined the rest of April before increasing again in three different waves during May (with a peak that month of 15.6 percent). As of June 6, the most recent day on record, it was 11.9 percent.

The county’s death count has slowed; 100 people died during March and April, but only 35 have died from causes attributed to the virus since then, according to the VDH, and only four of those have occurred since May 28.

Henrico has witnessed 223 people hospitalized because of the virus; 126 during March and April, 94 since then and just 18 this month.

Nearly one-third of all the county’s confirmed cases can be traced to one of 19 outbreaks, 16 of which occurred in long-term care facilities. The federal government recently began requiring nursing homes that accept Medicaid and Medicare patients to report some data about how many of their residents and employees have the virus, though it is and likely will remain significantly incomplete.

Overall statewide, the 7-day average of new positive results has dropped below 9 perfect. It peaked at 22.2 percent April 19 and for the most part has been on a fairly steep downward trajectory since then.
