Henrico County reported 198 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, ending a five-day increase that began over the weekend. The county’s seven-day daily average of new cases reached 182 cases per day, an increase of 1 from Tuesday, according to the Virginia Department of Health.

According to VDH data, the county also reported two new hospitalizations and four new deaths related to the virus, both counts of which are higher than those of the past two days.

According to VDH data as of Jan. 23, the seven-day moving average for PCR tests in Henrico County has reached 11.4 percent. Rapid antigen tests have reached a seven-day moving rate of 10 percent, a slight increase compared with recent counts. These percentages lag several days behind in order to include as much data as possible.

A total of 23,650 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Henrico County, according to the VDH, and about 3,481 people have received both doses. Henrico ranks second among state localities among doses administered, trailing only Fairfax County. Virginia has surpassed 26,000 average daily vaccinations.

More than 1,000 healthcare workers in Henrico County have been infected with COVID-19, according to the VDH. More than 3,000 Henrico cases have been linked to a total of 149 outbreaks – incidents in which two or more related COVID-19 cases are identified.

Long-term care facilities, correctional facilities, and congregate settings continue to have the most outbreaks, according to VDH data. Colleges and universities, however, are experiencing more outbreaks recently as students continue to move-in for the spring semester.
